Debate on Development work of BTC

Dhiraj: hi ppl...i have been to home for a week in July and met many ppl mostly villagers, and most of them were unhappy about the development work done.....the road to bodo villages are stl the same, evn worse, same condition of proposed irrigation...and they spoke to me with such clarity about the corruption goin on..... but said that they are common ppl, they dont have the strength to fight against it. Lots of money are coming in, but theres hardly any development. But i guess Kokrajhar is doing much betr as i have come to hear. Things need to change for the good of bodo ppl, the common bodo ppl.
G: Hi Dhiraj,You are not the only one who is concerned with the socio-economic development of Bodoland and its people, but there are many who are working or planning to work for the development (not only of Bodoland, but for the whole of North East India). If you are interested in joining the team or would like to know more about it, hit me back. Scrap me or mail me.Thanks and regards,Gunajit Brahma
Aкαѕн: About what team are you talking? It is frustrating to learn that still after BTC came into existance there is hardly any development. After so much struggle of BLT we are getting this.
G: hello Akash..Its true that even after getting BTC, the Bodo people are not satisfied.Well I don't want to discuss about the TEAM I know which is working on the development of NE region. Its no use discussing these things in the community topics. I tried doing it earlier, but the topic of discussion always diverts to something useless..If you want to do something for the NE region, then we can discuss these things privately, or at least I can give you some idea on what short of development are taking place in Bodoland and/or other part of North East. Thanks and regards,Gunajit Brahma.
N. Daimary: BTC — which is exerting on a horde of escalation ventures including edifice of the assemblage building and secretariat, laying of arterial roads to perk up connectivity, revitalization and completion of the Champamati irrigation project, establishment of a super specialty hospice in Chirang, RNB civil infirmary at Kokrajhar and freezing storage space amenities at Patgaon and Rowta, in addition a titanic cultural complex — has by now in progress thinking to the fore, and, citing the occasion and cost overruns, is challenging an supplementary Rs. 500 crore from the Central government to be prearranged in the next 5 years.BTC exert a pull on the setting up of these SEZs to adjoin to our inadequate funds of Rs 500-crore economic package from the Centre, 12% share of annual plan of Assam and revenue from land and forests.“SEZ would get a hold of escalation all the way through the cloak-and-dagger itinerary and generate employment. Nevertheless what genus of employment will the SEZ engender for the Boros, sheer labours isn’t? How many skilled and well groomed Boro aficionados are there in BTC to fill the white collar, blue collar and floor jobs of the FDI, FII and MNCs etc? Again in view of the fact that the companies will be from outside Assam and BTC more often than not from central India and south they will hand down extra first choice to their proletariat given that they have hefty pool of brilliant engineers and management connoisseurs. So far I have in no way perceived any brand of didactic assignment, akin to establishment of Technological/Agricultural/Veterinary/Architectural and Medical Institutions in four districts of BTC. The BTC has also not at all had a discussion concerning upgrading the existing colleges. The BTC may possibly have billed some cremation to the existing colleges for upgrading its infrastructure so that the college would kick off latest departments and augment the annual intake of students in the colleges.
Anonymous: guys what did u expect that you will have BTC and then there will be a change over night? Don't kid yourself.I was in kokrajhar and to tell u the truth there is a sea of change I saw. And changes were for good u know. Being a democracy there are certain things that you have to keep in mind...development will happen but everything will take time....and as this is a human society there will always be exploiters and exploited The only thing that will differ is the degree of how far exploiters will go and how far the exploiters will let it go.Remember one thing a whole generation of people are now not languishing because of the struggle.....they did not get proper education forget proper jobs they were selfless when they were involved in the struggle and if they are reaping the success by pocketing some money you should still be thankful....why because atleast the next generation people will live a better tomorrow. And this is an observation made by me from a third person view....I was not involved in the struggle I was too small then but I did witness it....and no I am not involved in the development happening in BTC today....I am still seeing it from a third person perspective....
N Daimary: First edification followed by technology plus economy, devoid of this three listings there cannot be escalation.
Dhiraj: hmm...good to hear....i have seen kokrajhar and otr places too...hope otr places follow kokrajhar soon.
Anonymous: this is the reply for the comment of N.Edification is surely needed and would have been easier if there was no fractions among us itself. Infighting always hurts everybody's cause.Technology is not that important what is important is economy. It was very heartening to see we as community are in business now. We were not active businessman/woman sometime ago and that is why we were exploited. Any community who doesn't trade or do business has no future. But there is another thing I noticed. The market place in BTC is quite largely dominated by us BODO's a good thing off course but we should be very careful not to make it a monopoly. Why? A community can't go anywhere like that. Once can see that from the ruins of Angkor Civilization or Khmer Civilization in Combodia. A city larger than Paris or London at its time vanished with no trace only to be found in ruins centuries later. Though it was a combination of reason for that but trade was one of the huge reasons. Why is trade so important? Because the only way to move forward is to adapt and learn new things and this happens through cultural exchanges which is a result of trade or migration. I think we are not migrating anywhere or any large community is not migrating into our land space. So trade but do not create monopoly should be something that must be watched and not allowed to happen. And when there is trade technology will automatically follow. Rest assured. My two centsPrakash.
